While any clarification of Apple's software license (the one found on files
on ftp.apple.com) needs to come from an Apple attorney, let me spell out
the basics for those people who have questions about it.  This is purely my
own opinion and should not be considered binding.

The end-user license basically says that you cannot redistribute this
software once you get it from ftp.apple.com or other source that has a
redistribution license executed with Apple (that is why we can distribute
from ftp.apple.com).  The redistribution license is different than the
end-user license.  If you have an interest in redistribution rights, you
will need to contact our Software Licensing department at
[e-mail] for information.  Note that the
redistribution licenses cost money and not everything is available or
covered by this license.

Back to the end-user license.  It covers ALL Apple software and information

other repetitive stress injuries. It's hard to remember all

This file was created in (and requires to print) Macintosh
PageMaker 4.2, and may require the following fonts (I
downloaded them into the file, but I can only test on my QMS-PS
410 printer, so if it prints badly on your printer, install the
fonts into your System file): Helvetica, Palatino, and Zapf
Dingbats, all of which come with your original System disks.
The file should print on any PostScript laser printer. It looks
best at resolutions of 600 dpi and above but looks fine at 300
dpi.

[This file is the same as the tidbits-caring-for-wrists-PS.hqx; it's
simply smaller and easier for people with PageMaker to print.]

any PostScript laser printer. It looks best at resolutions of

Our apologies for the massive size of this file when expanded.
We couldn't figure out any way to make it significantly smaller
and still get it to print. At least the file compresses well.

This is the "post" version of CompuCash™, which I wrote.  I decided
that people had a dificult time recognizing the value of it without
actually seeing it (although some did).  This document is most of
the "shareware" version and is shareware, as well.  So here's my
deal:

If you read this and like it, are entertained by it, or you realize
something about the subject matter you did not realize before
(computers, money, etc.), or if you actually do gain by the content
of CompuCash™, please help me out by compensating me for my efforts.  Be
honest - society needs more of honest.

I'm asking $20 for my work, here.  If you think that's too much,
send what you think it is worth.  If you do send the $20, I will
send you the exclusive information I deleted from the shareware
version, which registrants of that version received.

That includes the lists of computer-related (mostly Mac) marketable
product ideas, and service ideas.  They are for things not yet being
done or made.  Things any registrant may implement and cash in on.
This "post version" has some examples, so you can decide if it would
be worth a peek at more, with some illustrations (GIF).

It also included CompuCash™ in a ready to print form, with a color
title page, and instructions to make a professionally bound hard
copy.

drilled down through Computer Center:News & Industry Information:MacWEEK
Online:MacWEEK Round Table:Tips to Mac the Knife and found a "conversation"
regarding how CompUSA has a 10% restocking policy for Apple products! I posted
this note on a Rochester, NY FC BBS (Mac's Last Stand 716-247-9056) and the one
reply todate (last note of this message) makes it seem that this new policy
might be more Apple's than CompUSA's fault. I haven't heard of this new policy
of Apple's affecting other stores. While it is not uncommon for manufacturers
to get very very tough on their suppliers, this is the first time that I have
heard of a sales outlet getting beat up!

Several recent postings have asked about the availability of a list of the
system error codes displayed in the dreaded bomb-box or "<application> has
unexpectedly quit" dialog.  The enclosed ErrorCodeDA is a handy magic decoder
ring put together by Bill Steinberg which I've been using for a couple years.
Click the "About..." button at the bottom of the screen for information about
the author and extensive help on how to customize the "DisplayDA" shell for
other applications.  As mentioned in the help, DisplayDA is freeware for
non-commercial applications.

I don't know if this DA is System-7 compatible.  Would also appreciate hearing
of any newer versions of this nifty utility.  (This is my first attempt at
posting; I'd welcome constructive criticism to <[e-mail]>.)

The 1/3/94 edition of MacWeek included an index to all
products reviewed in 1993. It noted that a tab-delimited
version is available on ZiffNet/Mac, but since I don't
have access to that service, I scanned the printed review
and saved it as tab-delimited text myself. It looks okay
with a left tab at 3 in. and a right tab at 6.5 in.

Here, compiled from various public sources, are the dealer cost,
ApplePrice, CompUSA and Georgia Tech educational prices for the
Macintosh PowerPCs.

Dealer cost is Apple's level B price. This is the price paid by the
large chains like CompUSA.

ApplePrice is Apple's retail price which is supposed to reflect actual
street price. Real street price is somewhat less.

CompUSA price is from a store in Minniapolis.

GT = special educational prices at universities, in this case Georgia
Tech.

The two enclosed files are identical except one is in ClarisWorks 2
format and the other is plain text.

   I just sent you a HyperCard stack called The Scarecrow's File.  I think
I forgot to put a subject line on it.  It's over 700K, you can't miss it.

   It is best used on a color 640x480 screen, but it can be read on a
small B&W sceen.  You wan't see the color, animations, or card titles
though.  This stack works best if you can give HyperCard 2 or 3 megs of
memory.

   A tay line for the index might be:

   "The Scarecrow talks about Macs, software and related topics.  This
   stack has color, sounds, and animation.  Best used with 640x480

I encountered the problem with printing in Symbol bold a couple of years ago.
For a long time I used a work-arround which consisted of having another copy

        This resource guide (17 pages) provides you with adequate

        software for word processing, communications, and Japanese

Version 1.4 of the Vendor Email, BBS, FTP site and FAX  list!

Enclosed is a binhex4-encoded file containing a self-extracting folder with three files in Word 4/5, Excel 2.2, Excel 4.0 and tab-delimited text format.  Each file contains a list of Email, BBS, FAX numbers and FTP sites for Macintosh vendors. Depending on your needs, feel free to delete the others: other than formatting they are identical!

My goal with this list is to maintain an accurate and up-to-date list of those companies that are on the internet or an internet-reachable service. I have considered making a list with sales, tech support, and 1-(800) numbers, but since my primary interest is in maintaining a list that is usable to those of us who do NOT live in the U.S.A, and secondarily to promote those forward-thinking companies who currently use electronic services, I will limit myself to those companies making or selling Macintosh hardware or software that maintain a BBS or active Email presence.

We will be adding more Australian vendor information to this list. If anyone out there has any information to be added to the list please let us know.

I have the vendors entered alphabetically, without street addresses or information regarding their products. I have a partial listing of AOL addresses FAX numbers and FTP sites: please send me any appropriate information that you might have!
